How does this session contribute to Seeing Science Differently?
My research expands the lenses through which we view science to include linguistic and cultural elements. To me, Seeing Science Differently is about adding perspectives to the scientific discussion. Science communication in academic contexts, and subsequent participation in science by wider audiences, are both affected when the scientists and audience are constrained in how they are allowed to participate. These constraints are often hidden behind the logic of science, but pointing them out is a first step to dealing with their consequences fully.
